Invisalign Use Cases

Crowded teeth

Crowding occurs when there is not enough space for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause pain and can make it difficult for you to clean your teeth properly, which means plaque and tartar can build up, putting them at risk of decay.

Gaps between teeth

When you have gaps in between your teeth, this can cause pockets between your gums and teeth where food can get stuck. This can lead to soreness, gum disease and decay. It can also lead to problems in the tooth directly above or below it, since your jawbone is naturally stimulated when you chew.

Open bite

An open bite occurs when your upper and lower teeth don’t touch when you close your mouth; this makes it hard to chew or bite food like apples.

Underbite

If you have an underbite, your lower front teeth will be in front of your upper teeth when you close your mouth. An underbite can cause problems with speaking clearly and chewing. It can also cause your teeth to wear down quickly. This condition can be caused by your lower jaw being too far forward.

Overbite (or ‘deep bite’)

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap your lower ones. Most people have this to some extent. However, your overbite may be too big. When this happens, it can lead to your teeth wearing down or pain in your jaw.

Crossbite

When you have a crossbite, some of your upper teeth will be positioned inside your lower teeth rather than outside. This can lead to your teeth wearing down or chipping. Untreated, this condition can lead to your gums receding and being damaged, which could result in severe pain and even bone loss.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign Smile Transformations

Steps for your Smile Transformation

1

Consultation

During your initial consultation, we will explain the process, ask a few questions about your treatment expectations and assess whether Invisalign would suit you. You’ll be able to tell us about any questions or concerns you may have.

2

Treatment planning

If you decide to proceed, we will take a 3D scan of your teeth; this will be used to create a detailed treatment plan, and to show you how your smile will look after treatment.

3

Teeth straightening

Your scans will be sent to the Invisalign lab, who will create your customised aligners. Once they are ready, book a follow up appointment to collect them. Your dentist will explain how to place and take care of them, and how often to book a review (usually around 6 to 8 weeks).

After you’ve finished wearing aligners, you’ll need to wear a retainer. At Circ Dental, we provide free Vivera retainers worth £450 for you to wear following your treatment. These are custom-made to fit your teeth; we recommend you wear one at night while you sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your treatment will start with a consultation with an Invisalign-trained dentist, who will talk through the treatment and examine your teeth. Your dentist will take a 3D scan of your teeth and use this to map out a treatment plan which will guide your teeth into their new positions and transform your smile. If you go ahead, the scan will be used to create your aligners.

During treatment, you should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, changing to a new set every 1-2 weeks on your dentist’s advice. Gradually, your aligners will guide your teeth gently into place. Although aligners are removable, in some cases you may need attachments known as ‘engagers’ bonded to certain teeth to help guide them into place.
